The FreeBSD Diary has been providing practical examples since 1998. The preference here is
FreeBSD, a solid and reliable UNIX-like operating system.
We think documentation is great. We think working examples are better. We have hundreds of step
by step instructions for installing and configuring the most popular open source software applications.
The examples you find here were written
as the steps were carried out. We don't just list the steps. We explain them. We also show you the
mistakes we made and how we corrected them.
The FreeBSD Diary is the largest collection of how-to's, tutorials, and guides for FreeBSD anywhere.
However, much of what you will find is generic, and can be easily adapted to any other
Unix-like operating system.
Things look quiet here. But I've been doing a lot of blogging at
dan.langille.org because I prefer WordPress now.
Not all my posts there are FreeBSD related.
I am in the midst of migrating The FreeBSD Diary over to WordPress
(and you can read about that here).
Once the migration is completed, I'll move the FreeBSD posts into the
new FreeBSD Diary website.
