Alexander Eichner da Sun Microsystems anunciou recentemente que o Virtual Box, plataforma de virtualização open source da Sun está disponível (ainda não oficialmente) para FreeBSD. O esforço é independente e tem motivações pessoais dos desenvolvedores, que trabalham no VB para FreeBSD em seu tempo livre.

A expectativa é que a Sun venha a suportar VB para o FreeBSD oficialmente - mas levando em conta a aquisição pela Oracle, tudo é sabidamente incerto nesse momento, mas as expectativas dos desenvolvedores são positivas.

A lista de screenshots do Virtual Box foi atualizada e agora contém shots do Windows e do Ubuntu virtualizados no FreeBSD.

Being able to quickly and easily setup ZFS and encryption during installation (without dropping down to a command line) is advantageous. Post installation, it is handy to have built-in tools for managing jails and their software.
