[FUGSPBR] cvsup - mergemaster

Boa tarde,

seguindo os passos de um howto disponivel em free.bsd.com.br
tentei ( e conseguí) a tualizar o freebsd via cvsup do 4.7 para o 4.8.

após o comando
#mergemaster

o free me fez algumas perguntas como segue abaixo:

o que o freebsd está fazendo é me mostrar as diferencas
entre os arquivos de configuração antigos e os novos ?
apenas dei <enter> em todas as perguntas.
fiz certo?

como saber que versão estou usando no free?
sei que no dmesg tem 4.8 .
existe um comando que me mostre: 4.8.23 ... por exemplo?
