Use o healthd.

Já uso gráficos do MRTG para monitorar velocidade do cooler e
temperatura do processador. Também é possível utilizar o healthd para
enviar alarmes caso o cooler pare ou a temperatura do processador fique
muito elevada.

Veja por exemplo a configuração do meu MRTG:

Bom, e de uma olhada na configuração do healthd, lá tem as opções sobre
configuração de alarmes e blá blá blá. É muito interessante a utilização
do healthd+MRTG.
