Tive problemas com o vmware-tools, estou usando atualmente
o open-vm-tools-nox11 (Open VMware tools for FreeBSD VMware guests)
Ao meu ver o kern.hz=100 (boot/loader.conf) e o vfs.read_max=256 (sysctl)
fazem bastante diferença.
